Crucifixion and Resurrection, Devotional

PASSION WEEK : DAY 4 – WEDNESDAY.

Wednesday was the proverbial calm before the storm.

The Passover was two days away and Jesus predicted His death again, this time, specifically mentioning “crucifixion”

In Matthew 26:2, Jesus told His disciples: “As you know, Passover begins in two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.” NLT.

The Final Plot to Kill Jesus also was underway – the leading priests and elders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest plotting how to capture Him secretly, for fear of a riot.

And Judas had his “Betrayal Contract” with them! He actually went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss “the best way to betray Jesus to them”.

They promised him money for his efforts.

Jesus spent time to teach His followers.

And as a daily routine, Jesus left Jerusalem and Lodged on Mt. Olives again.

Jesus probably needed the quiet Wednesday, because it was going to such a hectic day for Him on Thursday!
